So with everyone talking about their jobs and others jobs and since it's been about 2-3 years since we had this topic let's talk about where everyone spends a good portion of their days.

Where do you work? What is your title/job? and an overview of what you actually do and any other kind of info you want to share on it.

    Go!

I work for Fluor Corporation ->link<-
My title is Mechanical Engineer II

My department does industrial type HVAC, fire protection, pumps, tanks, pressure vessels, and other mechanical related systems. I specifically work with the industrial HVAC, which is not really that similar to residential HVAC. For example, my current project is a nuclear power plant being designed in south Texas. As an HVAC Engineer on this project, my specific job relates to air pressurization to keep all the radioactive areas negatively pressurized to contain the potentially hazardous materials, air filtration (for a similar reason), and strict cooling and heating to keep the electronics and process equipment running optimally.

Probably sounds really boring haha, but its actually kind of cool at times. I would certainly rather do music or writing or something, but for a 40hr/wk job it is actually pretty interesting work because at least with engineering it keeps things fresh with new challenges on each project.

I work at a family owned industrial supplier. When something breaks in a factory, I find it for their maintenance department. I take care of a lot of the billing/administrative garbage too. I don't rely on tips, and I get on the Internet all day.

After being unemployed for 3 months, it is nice to have something to help me save for the next adventure.

Currently temping full time at a media research company called Coleman Insights. Essentially market research relating to TV, radio, new media, etc. My department sets up and handles the logistics of administering tests we design and run for clients across the nation. Translation: I work in a gray cubicle.

Recently picked up a second job at a Mexican restaurant called Dos Taquitos Centro in downtown Raleigh as a food runner/busser. I kind of love it. I'm easily a foot and a half taller than anyone in the kitchen, and only the front of house staff speaks English. It combines me wanting to learn more Spanish and pick up some new cooking skills, so I am very pleased right now.

For the past year I've been with the Asheboro Parks and Recreations. After about two months of working with them I was promoted to Field Supervisor which basically means I am head over the particular fields I am assigned to and I have to supervise the games and practices held on the field. I also supervise the Asheboro Skatepark and work there on the weekends. I usually work about 4-5 days a week getting about 20 hours a week. Before the Parks and Recreations I worked as a Retail Merchandiser for Hallmark for about two and a half years traveling to about 4-5 walmarts around the area every two weeks or so to re-stock and do inventory.

I still work for Art.com/Allposters.com, currently I am a business sales rep meaning I sell art to members of the trade (interior designers, frame shops) as well as various other businesses that purchase large quantities of artwork (hotels, restaurants, business offices, hospitals, schools, etc). All over the phone, we don't do cold calls which is nice, but we do get some rowdy people calling when something happens and they miss their deadline.

I also make money playing online poker. It's not enough to quit my day job obviously but I made over $1,000 profit from August - November of last year (The graph doesn't show the various bonuses I received for signing up at the casinos). I have software that tracks my stats and it calculated it out to only be like $5/hr ...but I actually enjoyed playing, so it was great. I haven't played much since then because it was starting to get repetitive and starting to feel like a job...so I'm taking a break.
  3.
I've started taking gen-ed online classes at my university of choice that I will be attending on campus in August. So I guess you could say I'm a full time student.
Southern Wesleyan University in Central South Carolina.

But I'm residing in Staley, NC (in between Asheboro and Siler City)
I have no job but I've applied at a lot of places including full time jobs @ pharmacies.

So I make no money. I bum off my parents. Aside from dealing Heroin; but you know. It's a G thang.

I work at harris teeter. I do pretty much everything except cashier/bagging. I don't like it, will probably quit soon. My store is located at a giant retirement community, so most of our customers are old people that complain about everything. Many of them come in every single day.

i have no fulltime job, but i am a bouncer at a a restaurant/nightclub in uptown charlotte (cosmos cafe). i am hoping to become a server/barback during the day there sometimes. one of my good friends is the manager. this weekend was rifreakindiculous with the CIAA in town.

friday there were 1300 people in the club before 6pm, and it was hilarious. not a single person other than the staff were white/latino/anything but african american. no real drama though, other than people passing out and/or throwing up on the floor (one "lady" fell face first into her own vomit...we kicked her out with puke on her shirt)

we also completely ran out of corona, limes, hennessy as well as anything and everything colored blue.

    classy

also on saturday i was running VIP and there were supposedly some quasi famous people in the house. i wouldnt let this one dude with thick glasses and a dope ass gumby flat-top in because he didnt have a VIP wristband, turns out he was some dude named Verse that sings some song with Young Joc. I let him up eventually when he had amassed enough fly hunnies to follow him upstairs.

i work at bobby teague appliances. mostly i deliver and install appliances. i use to do strickly installs (built in refigerators and ovens, etc) which means an extra $500 a month but that about died out due to lack of new home construction. sometimes i sell stuff, which partly makes up for lack of installs, but i'm to honest about the appliances so the boss gets mad. (cheap GE, LG is junk so don't buy it)

I am gainfully employed by the fine folks at Shapiro-Walker Design in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I generally spend my days working on POP and POS (huhuhuh) for Krispy Kreme Doughnut Company, but you'll also find me working on a variety of other work for clients like Amarr, Hanesbrands, The BSA, The Downtown Partnership, etc. It can get a little routine some days, but I enjoy it and the people I work with/the environment is great. I am extremely blessed to have such an excellent place to work, especially in this economic climate. Occasionally I do some freelance work for extra duckets, but I generally work too much at my primary job for freelance to be much of an option for real extra income.

work for wholefoods market. I'm the receiving coordinator for our Southwest region. Most people have no idea what a receiving coordinator does so I'll explain. Essentially my job and repsonsibilities are all over the place which is why i love it but a general overview of what I do:

Oversee the receiving team operations of 21 stores across Texas, Louisinia, Oklahoma and Arkansas along with most of the AP operations for those stores.
Help design new store's back of house setup
lead a team of folks across the rest of the regions to deal with all issues and desicions dealing with receiving for the company
Work closely with IT to work out scope, enhancement requirements and testing for our inventory replenishment and management system and financial reporting systems
Lead lots of operations and financial trainings
manage various projects dealing with safety, training, AP, operations, and vendor relations on a regional and global level
    etc etc etc

It's a nice mix of office work and in store work, travelling around the country and being home, working at a store level and working at a regional and/or global level. Plus i don't think many other companies would let some kid who didn't even make it through community college do half the stuff i do or make any of the desicions they allow me to make. It's a true example of a company letting you learn on the job and work your way up. I enjoy it.

kroger seems to always be cheaper than whole foods. but whole foods' products are worth the extra money.

maybe i just suck at buying food
  10.
are you buying the exact same product at kroger that you are buying at Wholefoods? If so than like i said it will be cheaper or the same price at wholefoods. if you buy wholefoods private label products (365) than you can get out real cheap. but if you want to go in and buy a bunch of really high quality nice to have items than yeah you can easily spend a few hundred dollars. I easily do 95% of my shopping strictly at wholefoods and i'm supporting a family of 4 on one income. I get a discount of course but i could still do that much shopping at wholefoods without it.

    dear guest,
read posts before you post than you won't sound like such a guest when you post. It's called explaining what your job is too. Do you know what receiving coordinators do for Wholefoods? I started this thread because i wanted to know what people actually do for a living. I've heard where people work and what there titles are quite a few times but most times i have no idea what that actually means they do on a day to day basis.

    Thanks for guesting guest.
