    or really anyone that might be able to help.
    Do you know anything about A.D.D. or ADHD medicine that they give to kids? I've tried looking for information but can't find anything except "give this to your kids!!!1!".
    thanks.

    he eats well. not much junk food in his diet. also, he's a good boy so no spankings.

    Sorry, I guess I read your post wrong.

    The American Psychiatric Association's website has a search feature and has a lot of published medical studies in it. You might try searching for information about drugs you have heard of, or just in studies about ADD AD/HD itself, focusing on the introductions and conclusions. It's a boring read, but it's going to be some of the most unbiased information out there. Usually people who conduct studies published by the APA are medical researchers and not drug companies.

    Love this topic. Have you ever read the book "happy child"? If you haven't send me your address and I'll mail you a copy of it. It covers a lot of stuff but it does touch on "dealing" with adhd and similiar "issues" with kids and I really like what it says on it.

    I'd like to point out that there are several schools of thought on this topic but basically there are 2 main differences with some smaller points differing the smaller groups. One group saying that Adhd and add should be treated (by some means) and some that do not see anything wrong with it (it's like having brown hair vs blonde hair). As much as I'd like there to be IMO it isn't a one size fits all treatment. Depending on the kid and your family and school situation you may have different options of how to approach it.

    When I was younger i was diagnosed with Add and numerous other things. I did several medications for awhile and did the whole zombie thing. I will say for me it was a good stepping stone and allowed me to get to a place where i could start working on the root causes of it and when I was 16 I stopped all my medications and have been dealing well via self monitoring and some type of "therapy". One of the reasons I'm good at the job I do now is because i have add and I understand how it affects me and how to deal with it. I fully believe there are positive sides to it and it's not all "bad". Understanding that and the fact that it's just a different way of processing things (that's no better or worse) really helps the kid and the parents/teachers.

    This link is a good broad overview of some of the negative side effects of your conventional medications for treating them. It is selling a product but the side effect info is spot on and they have some other good things to say.

    ->link<-

    This link shows a huge list of different types of treatments. Everything from pharmacuetical to herbal to educational to nutritional to therapies. You can pretty much cut and paste most of those into google to get more info on each. A lot of them are really good and finding the right combination for your kid can really go a long way in ensuring it's the best fit for them.

    Hope that helps and seriously if you haven't read that book send me your address. It's a super quick read but it will change your view on a lot of things.
