So, how exactly will be people be fighting cancer by coming to this? Is there a specific organization or something?

I was being serious. It'd be a pretty shitty thing to do to just tack "cancer benefit" on to the flier to attract a crowd. It's a pretty strong word to just put anywhere.

I wanted to get away from booking Churches, and kids were tearing up the place at shows. Thanks.

And Matthew, the entire show is a benefit concert, and all proceeds are being donated to the American Cancer Society. The girl booking it is doing it for her senior project, and she got some kid to make the flier for her. That's all I know.

I hope the flier isn't the order of the set list. That's the crappest way to line up those bands.

Why would you give money to them? the acs is one of the most corrupt charities out there.

I can't reccomend any organizations. I have never dealt with any, never been involved with anything like this. I am sure if you sniffed around though you would find an organization that is genuinely nonprofit and could actually use a couple hundred bucks.

I have read a ton of articles about the ACS and their public statements about what causes cancer, and also preventative measures. I am off to class now, when I get home I will post links to press releases theyve had as well as other articles about the organization.

gotta be honest, something is better than nothing. I understand how you feel about the ACS but if you don't have a constructive alternative I don't see any reason to say anything at all.

I think a better solution would be to take the money and do something for children who are in the hospital, dying of cancer. The money raised might be enough to cover the sweet tea at a catered lunch or something for some organization. Just giving an alternative...

in middle school, we did a fundraiser for the kids at brenners childrens hospital, and the money towards buying them playstations. that definitely made them happy.

i think the point of this though is to help fund cancer research.

That's cool. I guess if it's for school then she should continue to do it. I just think local money like that should stay local and do something to where more people could benefit from it, instead of an organization like the american cancer society. To even put their logo on a flier for a benefit show to raise money for them, they charge something like 500 bucks, I can't remember the exact amount, but it was in that range.

    Garrett:Junction Gang Camp

one of my teachers volunteers there every year and he was telling us about it and it sounds like an awesome place! if i remember correctly, some of the Petty's (from NASCAR) paid to help build and open this camp up for kids with serious illnesses. they have tons of stuff the kids can do like horseback riding, fishing, all kinda of sports, go karts, archery, and swimming. the cool thing is, they raise enough money every year for every kid to attend for free. if u go to their webitse ->link<- it tells more abt it and it shows u how to donate pretty much any amount of money. looks like a fun place for these kids who i'm sure are very thankful for it.

Youre right, I was wrong, Im sorry. Victory Junction Gang Camp
And yes Sugg has it right - Kyle Petty (son of Richard 'the king' Petty) started it and its totally free to these kids and its freaking great.
He and his wife do tons of charity stuff each year and I think its awesome.
And this camp idea is awesome. Give these kids a chance to do 'regular' stuff that possibly they've not been able to do in normal settings
