    i remember some kid in highschool made a comment about mentally handicapped kids which was "if i had a kid and it was handicapped I would probably kill it." at that instant jp the wiseman jumped out of his seat and proceded to choke the young man saying "two things are gonna happen: first i'm gonna tell you to shut up and you won't say a word for the rest of class, secondly i'm gonna call you a bitch and you will nod your head...k?"

    The question should probably be, "which offends you most." It's not necessarily mean to make fun of gays and minorities, just ignorant.

    Actually the question was Which do you think is meaner to make fun of? As in, out of the group which demographic is the meanest to make fun of. You can be completely intelligent and make fun of gays and minorities, or anything else for that matter.

    for me, it all depends on like.. ok, this person is fat, but are they fat because of some disorder? or are they just lazy? either way, they're going to get made fun of.. same goes for the rest of them..

    Yeah, I couldn't decide on mentally or physically handicapped either. All of the others could probably defend themselves a lot easier if faced with someone making fun of them to their face.

    One thing that's scary though, is that there is a mentally handicapped guy at my church that works at Wal*Mart, and one day I was parking my car...at the back of the lot, and was walking up the aisle, and a couple of guys started making fun of him, and the mentally handicapped guy got really pissed (because he gets made fun of all the time) and he grabbed the guys throats...both at the same time....and just started yelling at them. I saw this happen within 20 seconds or so, and the guy that was helping him push carts had to rip his arms off of the guys throats and calm him down. He is such a nice guy, it's just something about him makes him so hot-tempered and he doesn't know his own strength. There have been a couple of instances where he was innocently "horsing around" with some of his friends at church, and hurt them physically because he doesn't know how strong he is.

    I'm not sure what kind of handicap he has, but he's such a sweet guy. I hate the fact that people can't accept people for who they are and just mind their own business!!!

    Honestly I think getting bent out of shape about any kind of humor is just pushing people further away from any kind of step forward. Think about how much more awesome the world would be if people quit worrying so much about trivial shit like name calling.

    I'd probably be just as offended if someone called me a redneck as most would be by a racial slur, but I wouldn't let it get to me if it happened. What does get angry about something solve? It's not like beating the shit out of someone is going to make them think in a different way.

    My point was not that he couldn't be offended, its that A. he has no way of knowing if he is "just as offended", and B. he doesn't have as much reason to be offended as someone who has actually suffered because they are a minority.

    I mean, it's not like imaginations don't exist. I can imagine that I would be that offended, and how can you say how I will feel about something because of circumstances, doesn't that really depend on my emotions?

    And I still don't see how my ancestors play any part in it, because I see no reason to take out agression on someone alive today over something that happened before either of us were born.

    My mistake for just mentioning ancestors then, what about today? People are discrimated today because they are non-white in the US. I just think its crazy that you could think the word "redneck" has the same kind of weight as "nigger" for instance.

    I have a fear of mentally handicapped people. I went to a craft fair with my mom (my first mistake) when I was like 10 and this kid who was mentally handicapped kept hitting me. I was scarred for life.

    that's really a bad example, you have at least some say in your social class or how intelligent you choose to be (some, not complete), while you have no control over whether or not you come out black, white, hispanic, etc. i'd say sure, be upset if someone calls you a "cracker" or whatnot, but you can't tell me calling a black person a "nigger" and calling a white person a "redneck" is the same. plus none of these words have the same history as the word "nigger" anyways.
