Yo. Davie, I love you to death, but your words are a bit off. I mean, if I was shot to death, would you talk about the people that didnt like me or the people that I spent time pissing off.
No doubt, he did lead a turbulent life, but so did Biggie and Tupac(think arrested development). And we all got to hear the bullshit about who they pissed off- which they caused more waves that Jam Jay. But as listeners, we respect their contrabutions and think more about how to break down violence. Shit- Just ponder Dead Prez (I like their music, and would know why they were killed if they were killed but would never toil over it)
My conclusion is that Jam Jay was probably killed for economic or political reasons (within the music community). Yet, I will not be consumed by his death, instead by his life (Good campy line). And I would hope that we leave MTV because nothing good comes out of it, besides Jenny Macarthy.-- Tha Weave
That's cool if you don't agree, but I'm not sure how my words were off?? I don't think it's good that anyone is dead, I just want to know the other part of the story out of pure speculation issues. We all know what commercial hip-hop is about, and no one gets murdered in the degree JMJ was out of innocence.
david im not saying that you are wrong in any way, i can see how there ccould easily be an underlying motive behind this. but innocent people are murdered in thier homes everyday, in much more personal means than being shot.
My point is, Scandel or no Scandel. Motives are no Motives, he is dead. We need to construct peace and let the police handle his death. IN actuallity, all I know is that I care more about his work than the motives behind his death. And I know we both agree that MTV is not the best place for a memorial, since most of the MTV generation kids dont even know who RUN-DMC is let alone the song "Tricky."
The death of JMJ is truly one of the more tragic moments in recent hip hop. I refuse to believe he brought this upon himself and my guess would be that this is some random violence bullshit (not that the NYC PD will really care....racial profilin' bastards..). I don't care if he produced records for the horrible Insane Clown Posse, his body of work was largely positive (even by christian standards), especially when compared to just about anyone else involved with rap music period. And killing the pope would be more acceptable, Jay never covered for any child molesters that i know of (..athiest cheap shot...), he just helped pioneer rap music.....
"J-A-Y are the letters of his name...
cuttin' and scratchin' are the asteriks of his game...."
you know, i think its sad that jam master jay died, but i really think the most ironic thing is that the run dmc best of came out today, and no one will buy it
